Today is the beginning of a unique contest for those who plan on shopping local this holiday season.
The contest is called the 12 Days of Christmas Cash, and gives local shoppers a chance at winning five hundred dollars cash.
Director of Community Affairs for the City of Elberton Tiffany Gibbons explains why Main Street Elberton decided to host this contest.
“To encourage everyone to get out and get a jump on their Christmas shopping, we are starting this contest, and how that works is with every ten dollars that you spend with the participating Main Street members you will be qualified to win five hundred dollars in Christmas cash”, said Gibbons.
The winner will be drawn during Main Street’s Candlelight Shopping event, which is held annually on the downtown square in Elberton.
Gibbons explains the way to enter yourself into the drawing.
“Save your receipts, bring them to us during candlelight shopping, and we will give you your tickets to be entered into this drawing to be given away that night”, said Gibbons. “You must be present to win the five hundred dollars.”
A cut off of five hundred dollars or fifty tickets is in place when it comes to being eligible to win.
Those with receipts are asked to turn them in on the square by 6:00pm.
Receipts dated from today until November 26th are eligible to be used, but have to be from one of the participating stores.
