1st Annual Pumpkin Festival Today on Elberton’s Downtown Square

October 24, 2013

The day of the 1st Annual Pumpkin Festival, set to take place on the downtown square in Elberton has finally arrived.

Director of Community Affairs for the City of Elberton Tiffany Gibbons says this particular event is a new one for Elberton.

“This is the first year we are doing this; they have had similar things in the past, but Pumpkin Fest itself is new”, said Gibbons. “Its not a trick or treating event, but it is sure to be a good time for kids and kids at heart alike.”

She says there will be a ton of different contests and activities appropriate for all ages during the event.

“We’ll be having a pumpkin carving and painting contest, and there will also be pumpkins there for kids to decorate, we will have hayrides, face painting, spooky story telling, and we will also have a pumpkin pie eating contest”, said Gibbons.

The inaugural Pumpkin Festival will start at 4:00pm, and Gibbons says the festival should wrap up around 6:30pm.

There is no admission to come out and enjoy the festival this evening.
