The year 2012 was a good one for Main Street Elberton, and a key contributing factor was the extremely successful Summer Concert Series says Elberton Main Street Director Sissie Herring.
“The summer concert series, which we had a great run with; we had a great car show again this year, and probably one of the best fall festivals we have ever had with about four to five thousand people coming and going. We have had such great weather for all of our events in 2012”, said Herring.
2012 also saw two local businesses open up shop in downtown Elberton, and Herring says that shopping local is still an issue to focus on in 2013.
“It’s still important that you shop local, and that you support these businesses downtown, because they cannot survive without their customers”, said Herring. “I encourage everyone to continue shopping local as we move forward in 2013.”
The time for rest and relaxation is over, as Herring says, that January is one of the biggest planning months for Main Street Elberton.
“January is generally the month when I get contacted by bands that want to play in our summer concert series. So we are working on that already, and if anyone has any suggestions about a band they want to hear, then they can contact me”, said Herring.
