The 2013 Encore Productions season at the Elbert Theatre still has a couple of shows left, but the 2014 season is already set.
In a meeting last week, the theatre board approved the shows for next year’s Encore Productions season.
The 2014 season will feature no dramas, but instead will sport three different comedies and one musical.
Barefoot in the Park directed by Richard Campbell will be performed in March, Who’s on First directed by David Bennett follows in July, the season’s lone musical Bye Bye Birdie directed by Michael and Kayla Blackston goes on in September, and the comedy Harvey directed by Bob Larson wraps up in the season in December.
The downside to next season is the lack of young children roles, but Elbert Theatre Director Toni King says they have something to fix that.
“That is something that is really really important to us, is that we give youth a chance to perform”, said King. “So we added a kids only show, and it will be apart of the season as an Encore Junior Production.”
The kids will have two shows in April of the Aristocats Kids show, which is an adaptation of the Disney movie.
King says she is expecting a great theatre season in 2014.
It should be a lot of fun and we should have a good season”, said King. “I think we will have a lot of variety even though we are doing three comedies. I really just think people are going to have a good time.”
2014 season tickets for the Elbert Theatre will be available beginning later this year during the fall season.
