Alleged Armed Robbery Remains Under Investigation

February 28, 2014

An investigation into a reported robbery continues today by the Criminal Investigations Division at the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.

Earlier this week at a Washington Highway home, a female victim, whose name has not been released, reported she had been robbed at gun point.

Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews says she told deputies upon their arrival at the scene that she heard a loud knocking on her back door.

“The victim stated she opened the door and a black male came in demanding money”, said Andrews. “The victim stated she refused to give the man any money, and at that time he pointed a gun at her head.”

Andrews said the victim then reported she gave the man her wallet and that he removed about thirty dollars in cash.

A suspect at this time has not been identified, and Sheriff Andrews says CID will continue to fully investigate this incident.
