Authorities in Anderson County have captured a suspect involved in a high speed chase in Hart County on Christmas Day.
29-year old Michael David Brandon Chastain was arrested over the weekend by Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies.
According to Anderson County Sheriff’s Information Officer Chad McBride, Chastain was picked up at a convenience store on Shockley Ferry Road and South Main St. near Watson Village Sunday afternoon.
Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said he was on hand Monday in Anderson for Chastain’s bond hearing.
He said Chastain was also charged in the South Carolina side of the high-speed chase.
“He has several charges, but the only ones that we are concerned with, is that they don’t have aggravated assault like we do, instead they have assault and battery”, said Cleveland.
Chastain was given a $100,000 bond but remains in the Anderson County Detention Center.
Cleveland said his dispatcher received a call Christmas Day about an erratic driver in a Chrysler 350 that was involved a case of road rage.
In addition to the latest charges against him in Anderson County, Chastain was also wanted on numerous outstanding warrants including attempted murder, being involved with a chop shop, buying and selling vehicles with tampered ID’s, resisting arrest, failure to stop for a blue light, manufacturing of methamphetamine, receiving stolen goods $10,000 or more, criminal damage to property, petty larceny, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
In Hart County, Chastain is charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding, and driving too fast for conditions.
