A soggy 4th of July weekend across the state of Georgia caused numerous fireworks shows to be cancelled.
That was the case for the annual Washington-Wilkes Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks show, as rain forced a cancellation of the festivities.
However, good news is abound, as the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce has announced September 2nd, 2013 as the rescheduled date for the event to take place.
In the chamber’s weekly news letter, special and heart-felt thanks were given to Washington’s citizens and businesses for all that they contributed towards the event.
As some may know, a majority of the funding for the annual fireworks show in Washington is funded almost entirely through a grassroots effort of donations from citizens and businesses.
On September 2nd, vendors are expected to return to the square in Washington, and the celebration will mimic the Independence Day Celebration.
