Augusta Readies for this Year’s Masters Tournament

April 10, 2013

The Masters Golf tournament kicks off tomorrow morning in Augusta, Georgia.

It’s considered one of, if not the most, prestigious major golf tournament on the PGA tour.

Stan Byrdy, author of The Augusta National Golf Club, Alister MacKenzie’s Masterpieceate, says that the Masters is something the city of Augusta takes pride in hosting.

“In between that time Augustans are really rallying to get their homes cleaned and to get last minute construction done as they do every year during this time of year”, said Byrdy. “You will see a lot of crews out picking up trash and trying to spruce up the town, it’s a very important event for Augusta.”

He also talks about some of the popular picks to win the tournament this year.

“It would be hard to be against Tiger, but Phil is also playing very well, Tiger has been in the hunt the past three years, and he is finally on top of his game this year, and he is going to be a force to be reckoned with”, said Byrdy. “You never know though, maybe Bubba Watson can win it back to back, its always an interesting tournament and you never know how its going to play out.”

The Masters begins tomorrow morning at Augusta National Golf Club.
