Blue Devils and Lady Devils Again Victorious

The Elbert County Blue Devil Basketball teams travelled up to East Jackson Tuesday.

The Lady Devils came away with a win over the Lady Eagles in a tight game. East Jackson would control the entire first quarter holding the Lady Devils scoreless halfway through. However, the Lady Devils would begin to heat up and finish the quarter down 13-9. The Lady Eagles would again try to run away with the game doubling the Lady Devils points with a 18-9 score.  The Lady Devils would get it together and finish the half down 18-14.

The Lady Devils would come out in the third and really pick up the tempo. Midway through the third the Elbert would finally hold the advantage with a 27-21 score. The teams would head into the final quarter with the Lady Devils up 31-28. The fourth would start out low scoring with the Lady Devils ahead midway through 34-27. Both teams would pick up the pace but the Lady Devils would finish with a 42-39 victory. Jimerra Hill would spearhead the offense with 15 points and was named Player of the Game.

The Blue Devils were again in a tight game that went back and forth but were able to pull out the victory. The first quarter would see the Eagles strike first but the teams would be knotted up at 9 all over halfway through. Elbert would be able to take a 16-13 lead to finish up the first. East Jackson would come back and take the lead early in the second; the teams would go back and forth but the Devils would hold a 38-33 lead at the half. Tarveil Fortson would lead the Devils in offense with 11 points at the half.

The third quarter would see more lead changes. East Jackson would have a one point advantage with under three minutes left but the Devils would have a 54-52 lead to head into the fourth quarter. Elbert would take a six point, 66-60 lead with less than three minutes left and would hang on to win 72- 68. Mecole Hardman led the team in scoring with 12 points and was named Player of the Game.
