Blue Devils Come Back to The Granite Bowl for Homecoming

September 13, 2013

This evening the Blue Devils aim to get a bit of a winning streak rolling, looking for their second win in as many weeks.

Coming off a 27-19 victory over Cedar Shoals last week, Elbert County Blue Devil Head Coach Sid Fritts says things are finally shaping up on offense.

“I guess that’s expected with a new offense, runner backs trying to find soft spots, offensive linemen trying to learn leverages.  Again it’s a work in progress. I think there in the second half we started to understand the offenses a little better”, Fritts said.

The Blue Devils will look to continue that success this evening as they will be taking on the Knights of Evans in the Granite Bowl for the first time this season.

Also taking place this evening are the annual Homecoming festivities, Fritts says it’s an additional challenge to keep his team focused on the main objective amidst the distractions.

“We always every year try to remind our guys that our part in homecoming is from to 7:30-10:00 and we can make it a sweet homecoming or a bitter homecoming and the better preparation you have and the more you stay locked in and focused in on your job again those two hours on Friday night the better it is for the community, the better it is for the student body, and the better it is for the alumni” Fritts said.

This evening’s game begins at 7:30pm, pregame coverage on 105.3 WSGC begins half an hour prior with the Pinnacle Bank Pregame show.
