Blue Devils Defeat Oconee, Move on in Region Tournament

The Elbert Blue Devil boy’s basketball team took on the Oconee County Warriors in the Inferno Wednesday, February 13th. The Blue Devils started fast as they jumped out in front quickly and Terrel Hughes made last second shot at the end of the first quarter to take the Devils to a 23-14 lead. In the second the Warriors made a comeback and took the lead for a brief time; however, the Devils were able to tie the game up at 36 before the half. Terrell Hughes led the team with 16 points at the half. The Blue Devils came out ready to play in the second half as they went on to take a commanding 66-45 lead at the end of three. The Blue Devils continued their dominance through the fourth and finished with an 84-60 victory. Tyshon Dye had 14 points and was named Tri-County Technical College Player of the Game. Terrell Hughes led in scoring for the Blue Devils with 20 points to help the Devils move on in the Region Tournament and clinch a spot in the State Tournament.
