It was an absolute heart breaker in the Granite Bowl Friday night as the Elbert County Blue Devils season game to an end. After a miraculous run through the region the Devils lost to Cedar Grove 22-14 in the first round of the playoffs in a defensive struggle.
The Devils would draw first blood with under a minute left in the first quarter. However, Cedar Grove would be able to answer with a long drive to score in the second but a missed extra point would allow the Devils to keep a 7-6 lead. With three minutes until the end of the half Marquice Dye would break out for a 36 yard TD run to give the Devils a 14-6 lead to take into the half.
Coming out to start the 3rd the Saints would have an answer and drive down the field to score and tie the game up at 14 with a successful 2 point conversion. That would be the score through the end of the game and into the 4th overtime as it would be all defense. In the 4th overtime the Saints would finally be able to find the endzone and convert a 2 point conversion to go up 22-14. Cedar Grove would hold the Devils and advance to the second round of the playoffs.
