The Elbert County Blue Devil Basketball teams were in action Monday night in the Region Tournament semi finals.
The Lady Devils took on a tough Franklin County team and could not pull it out. The Lady Lions were relentless on offense where the Lady Devils could not get going. The first quarter would see the Lady Lions take the upper hand quickly but the Lady Devils would hang in with an 18-11 score. The second quarter, however would see Franklin begin to pull away as the Lady Devils would only muster 5 points in the quarter and the Lady Lions would take a 28-16 lead into the locker room.
The second half would not get much better for the Lady Devils as the Lady Lions would take a 43-22 lead into the final quarter and finish the game with a 50-33 victory. Jimera Hill and Tiawanna Griffin led the Lady Devils with 8 points a piece and Tonisha Fortson was named Player of the Game.
The Blue Devils took down rival Hart County to head into the finals. The Devils jumped out early thanks to the efforts of Marc Moon and would have a 20-9 lead at the end of the first. The second quarter would see the Devils double their point total with a 41-22 score to head into the half.
The second half would see the Blue Devil offense slow a little. The Bulldogs would not be able to take advantage however and the Devils would go on to win 73-53. Jay Jay Moon was named player of the game.
