Blue Devils Look to Start of Region Play on a Positive Note

September 27, 2013

A full two weeks has passed since the Elbert County Blue Devils last took the field, and this evening, the team is looking forward to shaking off a rough loss on the 13th to Evans.

In that game the Blue Devils held a 31-10 lead at one point, but due to several Elbert County turnovers and a couple of big plays from Evans, the Knights were able to climb back into the contest and then some, as they kicked the game winning field goal to win 34-31.

Blue Devil Head Coach Sid Fritts talks about what his team was able to take away from that game.

“It’s an old cliché we remind our players of all the time is that you have to play together”, said Fritts. “Once you look at the film and get a chance to grade each and every player, everyone one that team, everyone on the coaching staff could have done something better for us to win that game. We are just going to look ahead to region play which is right in front of us.”

As Fritts mentioned, region play begins this evening for Elbert County as they will be traveling just outside of Commerce, GA to take on the East Jackson Eagles.

Coach Fritts said it’s pretty simple what they have to do to be able to win this evening.

“Obviously it’s to take care of the football, if we can do that we should be able to start off our region schedule with a win”, he said. “What we have to do is keep our kids respecting each opponent, but to not be afraid to play any opponent either.

Kickoff tonight is scheduled for 7:30pm, 105.3 WSGC’s coverage of the game begins at 7:00pm with the Pinnacle Bank pregame show.
