Blue Devils Snag Big Win Over North Oconee

October 21, 2013

One undefeated region team down, one more to go.

The Blue Devils snagged an enormous victory this past Friday evening after knocking off the North Oconee Titans on the road.

It didn’t take long for the scoring to get going, as North Oconee scored the opening touchdown, but the Blue Devils answered right back thanks to Trey Barnett.

The Devils held a 14-7 lead heading into the half, and North Oconee tied things up on their opening drive of the second half.

North Oconee added a field goal to retake the lead 17-14.

Another quick touchdown by Elbert County had the Blue Devils back out front 21-17.

Running the clock late the fourth quarter, Elbert County quarterback Mecole Hardman, added some insurance for the Devils.

North Oconee made it interesting by scoring late, but their late game efforts were not enough; as the Blue Devils hang on to win by a final score of 28-23.

The Blue Devils improve to 5-2 on the season and remain undefeated in region play with a 4-0 record.

Next up for Elbert County is a short trip up State Route 77 to pay the Bulldogs of Hart County a visit.

Kickoff is set for 7:30pm this Friday evening, our coverage on 105.3 WSGC begins at 7:00pm.
