It seems it is going to take some more time to determine if one of the candidates running in the Elbert County Board of Education District 3 race can actually do so.
Originally scheduled for yesterday afternoon was supposed to be a hearing challenging the candidacy of Donald Wayne Ward, but that hearing was cancelled.
Ward is running against incumbent PJO Phelps, and both are running as republicans, and will potentially face one another during the republican primary coming up in May.
According to Phelps, Ward was being challenged on two issues; one was for supposedly missing the election qualifying deadline on March 7th at noon, and the other was for nepotism under O.C.G.A. 20-2-41 (4)(A).
Ward’s name was added to the list of qualified candidates on Monday after what was called a “clerical error”.
With yesterday’s announcement that the hearing was cancelled, there was no make up date or time table given on when the hearing will actually take place.
