The Elbert County Board of Education will gather this evening for their regular meeting for the month of July.
Similar to the board’s work session agenda, the itinerary for the regular meeting is quite brief.
One of the lone action items on the agenda is a vote on adopting a change to the Elbert County School System’s weapons policy.
At the school board’s work session in June, School Superintendent Chuck Bell says the new policy allows for a more case by case basis to be taken to those in violation of the weapon’s policy, and also keeps the district in line with state law.
“With House Bill 826 going into effect on July 1st, its necessary for us to update our board policy on weapons, so that we are consistent with state law”, explained Bell.
The regular meeting will be held in the board of education meeting room at the board of education offices located off of Laurel Drive.
The regular meeting will begin promptly at 5:30pm.
Members of the Elbert County community are welcome to attend this evening, as the meeting is open to the general public.
