No bond for Brent Shubert, the man accused in the death of 33-year-old Bonny Anne Cooner of Canon.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said Shubert had a bond hearing Wednesday morning before Franklin County Magistrate Judge Cody Grizzle, with his attorney present, and was denied bond.

The case will now be transferred to Franklin County Superior Court.

Cooner’s body was found last Saturday in an abandoned well in Canon two weeks after she went missing from the home she shared with her son and Shubert.

On Monday, Dr. Kris Sperry, Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Georgia, confirmed the remains found in the well Saturday are that of Ms. Cooner. Sperry said the cause of death was strangulation with blunt head trauma.

Shubert was arrested in Anderson, SC just hours after Cooner’s body was found. He was returned to Franklin County Monday morning.

Shubert is charged with malice murder, aggravated assault and concealing a death.

Thomas said Shubert is not cooperating with investigators.

Meantime, Cooner was laid to rest Thursday afternoon in her hometown of Comer, GA.
