Today registration begins for fall classes at the new branch of the Mountain Education Center in Bowman, Georgia.
The education center is housed in the building formally known as Bowman Elementary school.
George Counter is the spokesperson for the program, and says that this type of learning center allows students to work at their own pace.
“They can come to us at night and finish their diploma,” Counter said. “Or if they want to catch up, they can transfer back to their regular high school. We offer all of the courses the state offers and we meet all the minimum state requirements for a Georgia high school diploma. We’re also SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) accredited.”
The intention is for the school to serve students in Elbert, Hart, and Madison Counties.
Classes are self-paced on computer with certified teachers and tutors available at the students’ request.
