A Bowman man was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 20th, on drug related charges.
In a press release from Elbert County Sheriff Barry Haston, he said that a deputy stopped a suspicious vehicle on Hendricks Street in Bowman.
According to the deputy, the driver appeared to be under the influence and attempted to exit the vehicle with the seatbelt still around him, which caused him to stumble.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 22 year old Michoe Alexander of a Clark Road address in Bowman, was found to have an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Battery in Hart County.
Sheriff Haston said that Alexander tried to flee from the deputy, but that his attempt to escape failed.
“When the deputy attempted to place Alexander under arrest he began to struggle with the deputy attempting to get away”, said Sheriff Haston. “He was safely handcuffed and found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine that was package for resale and marijuana.”
Alexander was then transported to the Elbert County Detention Center on charges of DUI, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, and Obstruction of an Officer.
