Bowman Ready to Host Volunteer Day Clean-Up Tomorrow

April 4, 2014

All hands on deck tomorrow in Bowman, as the city of Bowman is partnering with Keep Elbert County Beautiful to celebrate “The Great American Clean-Up”.

It is a volunteer day tomorrow in Bowman says Mayor Pete Gibbons.

Gibbons explains what exactly will be taking place on that particular Saturday.

“We are asking anyone in the community that wants to help us that Saturday to do so, we will be doing everything we can downtown and alongside the roads to get everything ready for the Big Iron Crank Up”, said Gibbons. “We want to do whatever we can to turn things around in this town, and if that starts with picking up a piece of trash then so be it.”

One main reason for the big clean up is to get the town looking pristine before the annual Big Iron Crank-Up, which typically brings thousands upon thousands to the Bowman area, said Gibbons.

Those interested in volunteering can meet tomorrow morning at “The Well” on the Bowman Square at 9:00am.

They ask that you bring your own gloves, as they will provide safety vests and provide refreshments throughout the clean-up.

More information about the event is available by contacting Bowman City Hall at (706) 245-5432.
