Bowman Special Events Already Prepping for Car Show at the End of the Month

April 17, 2013

The Big Iron Crank Up is this weekend, but the Bowman Special Events Committee already has the ball rolling on its next event, which is coming up the following weekend.

The 4th Annual Parking for the Park Cruise In will be taking place at the end of the month.

Bowman Special Events Coordinator Pete Gibbons explains why the car show is taking place so much earlier this year.

“We’ve decided to move it up a little bit this year, we felt that we would do it earlier in the year so we could have some more favorable weather”, explained Gibbons. “We also thought that being one of the first car shows of the year that we wouldn’t have to compete with some of the summer car shows going on in the area.”

All proceeds raised during the car show will go towards the continued restoration of the Bowman City Park.

Gibbons said the only real change in this year’s car show is the earlier date.

“We’re gonna run with the same format as last year. We are going to have live music provided by Borderline, we will also have food at the event”, said Gibbons. “For the twenty dollar entry fee you will receive a commemorative t-shirt and you will also have a chance to win several great door prizes donated by local businesses.”

Those wanting to participate can sign up in advance or the day of the car show for an entry fee of twenty dollars.

A cash prize will also be given out to the best car picked by judges and the crowd in attendance.
