The Elbert County Sister City program is getting ready to hold a fundraiser for their upcoming trip to Japan.
The burger for bucks fundraiser is going to be held on Saturday, April 13th from 11:00am until 1:00pm at A & D Cycles.
Sister City Chairman Tom Evans Jr. describes how the yearly trip works.
“The students will have the opportunity this summer from the middle of July to the end of July to stay in our sister city in Japan”, said Evans. “The then Japanese group will come back and stay with Elberton families at Elberton homes for two weeks.”
He says that the support from the Elbert County community is the lifeblood of the Sister City exchange program.
“We have various fundraisers, and also the city and county have been very gracious to support the program”, said Evans. “We have donations from local businesses and individuals that have given to the program, and have helped support it.”
The sack lunch includes a bubba burger, chips, drink, and a dessert.
Tickets are on sale for six dollars, and can be purchased by calling Cindy Churney at Elberton City Hall at (706) 213-3105, or by getting in touch with any Sister City Committee Member.
