A win lifts everyone’s spirits.
That’s what Calhoun Falls Charter School is feeling after Friday night’s 43-6 victory over Whitmire. Better Spirits. The Flashes head into region 1-A on the road at Dixie in Due West SC. The Dixie Hornets are 1-6 with their sole win also coming against Whitmire.
According to reports, Calhoun Falls Charter School football Coach David Campbell, his young team is “more upbeat.”
Their opponent wasn’t as fortunate Friday night, experiencing a 33-0 defeat to second ranked Christ Church. A team that Campbell’s crew lost to in week 5 by a score of 44-0. Neither team has the luxury of deep bench. Due to low numbers neither team could expect with great success with any injuries to key personnel.
Travis Harris, Dixie’s Head Coach isn’t confident that the Hornet’s star Eric Cheek will be cleared to play following a concussion that occurred last Friday. If Cheek is able to play, the Flashes have their work cut out on defense. Cheek has run for 100 yards or more in several games this season for Dixie.
For Calhoun Falls Charter School, the status of Tremon Bryant’s ankle isn’t clear. A.J. Stradford has stepped in at Quarterback during Bryant’s issues with is ankle. Most likely Stradford will start for the Flashes at QB on Friday but Bryant will give it a go to test the stability of his ankle to help his team.
Calhoun Falls Charter School has been able to score when the Offensive line blocks well. This concern continues for Campbell’s team as he stated “ if our line isn’t blocking it could be a long night.”
Calhoun Falls Charter School travels to Dixie in Due West, SC for their region opener at Henry C. Oates Athletic Stadium this Friday at 7:30pm.
