The City of Bowman is expecting to roll out a new billing system within the next couple of months.
Approved in July was a bid from United Systems Technology, Inc. for new billing software, as well as a new website, which was reported yesterday.
Bowman City Mayor Pete Gibbons said the new billing system will cost roughly the same as what is currently in place, but will streamline the city’s accounts.
“This program reaches throughout several accounts, as opposed to having to work separately in each account, so this kind of brings everything together”, said Gibbons. “It will really help streamline things at city hall, so things can work within it.”
The new program will be able to map out what money has been spent through the years, which in turn he says, will make planning future budgets a lot easier.
“So, one of my keys when I came in as Mayor is that I wanted all of our accounts to be budgeted, that way we can sort of track the money coming in and the money going out”, said Gibbons.
Currently, the city is transitioning to the new system, as they wanted to wait for a down period before beginning work on the transition.
Gibbons says the new system should be in place and fully functional within two months.
