The City of Royston and the Downtown Development Authority are hosting a morning seminar next week for businesses to learn how to take advantage of the Department of Community Affair’s Economic Opportunity Zone Status.
This past spring, Royston received the status from the State, which offers tax incentives and other perks to businesses who set up shop in economically depressed areas.
DDA president Candy Rhodes said the seminar is not just for business owners in Royston.
“This is a regional seminar, said Royston DDA president Candy Rhoades. “When we contacted the DCA about coming down to hold a seminar they asked if we would be willing to do a regional seminar and we agreed.”
Rhodes said during the one hour morning seminar, a number of different topics will be covered such as how to take advantage of the tax incentives offered by the State.
“For example, if a new business comes and they hire as many as two employees full-time, they would be able to receive a tax credit of up to $3,500 per full-time employee,” she said.
The one-day seminar takes place in Royston next Tuesday, August 6th at 10:30a in the Joe A. Adams Building on Cook St.
Deadline to sign up is tomorrow.
