The owner of a Comer convenience store is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the identity and arrests of two suspects who robbed him at gunpoint Sunday night.

Comer Police Chief Dennis Bell said it happened at the Bolero Gas Station and Convenience Store at the intersection of SR’s 98 and 72.

“Two masked robbers entered the store,” Bell said. “One of them had a handgun. He brandished that handgun in the clerk’s face and said if she didn’t hand over all of the money in the cash register, he would kill her. The GBI is helping with this and we’re looking at cameras from around the area to see if we can pick up anything.”

The suspects made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Bell said his investigators and the GBI have released photos from surveillance video of the suspects, but it is hard to identify the two men.

One of the men is shorter than the other and was wearing a navy blue pullover jacket.

The taller suspect was wearing a gray sweatshirt type pullover.

Both suspects wore jeans and gray ski masks over their heads.

Now the owner is offering a reward.

“The owner of the store has put up a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons involved in this,” Bell said. “If anyone has any information, I would ask them to please call.”

Anyone with information on who the suspects might be is asked to call Chief Bell at 706-391-0447 or the GBI Athens office at 706-552-2309.
