The Concerned Citizens Group of Bowman is planning a march from the city of Bowman, to the city of Elberton to highlight their determination to have Bowman Elementary re-opened.
The march will take place on September 16th, and will start at the Bowman Community Center at 2:00pm. Darlena Carey, who is the Chairwoman of the group, says the march will be done in a way so that anyone can participate.
“The march will be comprised of three groups for those unable to walk the entire route.” said Carey, “The first group will walk from Bowman to the Dewy Rose Post Office. The second group will go from Dewy Rose to the old Adams Supply Building parking lot, and the third group will continue on to the Elberton Civic Center.”
The following day the group plans to assemble at the Elberton Civic Center at 4:30pm. They then plan on walking over to the Board of Education Building to present signatures and to pose questions about re-opening Bowman Elementary during the Elbert County Board of Education’s regular monthly meeting.
Carey is asking for all the support that the community can give.
“We are urging every person to come and support our efforts. Children are also encouraged to walk with us. Each and every person is needed, and we also ask that every person to please sign our petition”, said Carey.
