Another successful Granite City Cook-Off is in the books for the Elberton Ministerial Alliance.
Elberton Community Affairs Director Tiffany Gibbons says everything, even down to the weather, turned out great.
“Turned out to be a great day, the weather was in our favor, we had twelve grills entered”, said Gibbons. “The downtown square was filled with the sweet aromas of barbeque Saturday morning.”
There were four categories in which competing grillers could potentially win, and those winners are as follows.
Best Chicken Quarters went to Dexter Allen with Martin Grove Baptist Church.
Best Ribs was awarded to Jody Hall with the Concerned Men of Elbert County
Best Pulled Meat went to Dexter Allen with Martin Grove Baptist Church, and Allen also managed to snag the first annual Grand Champion award at the cook-off.
Gibbons thanked all those in attendance at the event this past Saturday.
“Overall it was a fantastic, we heard lots of positive feedback”, said Gibbons. “Everyone seemed to have a great time, so thanks to all you who came out and helped us have a great day.”
The annual Granite City Cook-Off has been held in each of the last six years, as part of an effort to raise money for a scholarship for an Elbert County Comprehensive High School senior.
