The Elbert County Diamond Devils fail in a heartbreaker to the Oconee County Warriors last night in a game that would take 13 innings to be decided.
Jacob Smith would start on the mound for the Blue Devils. The Warriors would go up in the 2nd inning getting one run across. Jacob Smith would then bear down and become dominant.
The Devils would tie the game up in the 6th thanks to a squeeze bunt which would be successful scoring Jackson Jordan. Smith would continue his dominance all the way until he was relieved in the 8th inning by Jordan.
Their would not be any runs scored until the top of the 12th when the Devils scored two runs thanks to a singe from Steven Webb would bring in Jacob Smith and Jackson Jordan. Unfortunately, the Warriors would be able to answer with 2 runs of their own to tie things back up at 3.
Elbert would go 3 and out at the top of the 13th. The Warriors would proceed to load the bases and after 13 innings the game would end after a questionable hit batter would force in the winning run. The Warriors would walk away with the 4-3 win.
The Diamond Devils go to 9-8 overall and have a 2-5 region record.
