The Elbert County Diamond Devils finished up their season last night with a loss to North Oconee in an intense game.
Both teams would score 3 runs in the 1st inning and the game would remain tied until the 6th inning. Jacob Smith, who started on the mound for the Devils, settled in after the 1st and pitched 4 scoreless innings.
In the 6th inning the tie would be broken; after a lead off walk and mindless error would lead to the Titans scoring the go ahead run. The teams would head into the final inning with a 4-3 score in favor of North Oconee. In the top of the 7th Steven Webb would replace Jacob Smith on the mound. The Titans would get another run in to go up 5-3.
In the bottom of the 7th the Devils would leave it all on the field. With the bases loaded Alex Bradford would bat in a run on a swinging bunt to get the Devils within one. However, with the tying run 90 ft away the Devils would not be able to prevail after a pop up ended the game.
Player of the Game went to all of the Seniors which include Bryce Lunsford, Alex Bradford, Jacob Smith, Caleb Norman, Ross Phillips, Jordan McCalla, and Kyle Graham. The Devils finished 3-11 in the region and 10-14 overall.
