Early Sunday Morning Traffic Stop Leads to Elberton Man Facing Drug Charges

Another traffic stop lands an Elberton man behind bars on drug possession charges.

Around 1:00am Sunday morning, a deputy with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop of Granite Avenue at Sonny Side Drive.

Further investigation during the stop led to the arrest of 32-year-old Phillip Brett Howe of a Tusten Street home in Elberton on several drug related charges.

Howe has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana Less than 1oz.

He faces additional charges of Drugs to be Kept in Original Container and Possession of a Controlled Substance Passed the Guard Lines.

Following his arrest, Howe was transported to the Elbert County Detention Center, where he was later released on bond.
