Early Voting Starts Today

October 14, 2013

In person early voting starts today in Elbert County for the municipal elections taking place in the cities of Bowman and Elberton

Early voting will be held at each of the respective city halls beginning this morning at 8:30am and lasting until 4:30pm each day until Friday November 1st.

In Bowman, city hall is closed from 12:00pm until 1:00pm for lunch, so no early voting will take place during that time frame.

Running for three vacant council seats in Bowman this election are Incumbent Betty Jo Maxwell, Calvin Bridges, Scott Harpold, Marion Herring, and Rachel Felice.

In the race for Bowman City Mayor, Incumbent Pamela Johnson will square off against current Bowman City Councilman Pete Gibbons.

In the city of Elberton, there is only one contested race, and that is for Ward 5’s seat currently held by Joel Seymour, he will face challenger Mart Clamp.

Mayor Larry Guest, Ward 1 Councilmember Carey Butler, and Rick Prince running for Ward 4’s seat are all unopposed heading into the election.

Those who can not vote early in person can request an absentee ballot be mailed to them by contacting Elberton Election Superintendent and City Clerk Cindy Churney at (706) 213-3105.

Same goes for Bowman residents, but they will need to contact Bowman City Hall at (706) 245-5432.
