Ribbon cutting at “This and That” Thrift Store

The Elbert County Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed its newest member yesterday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new business called “This and That” Thrift Store, which is located at 366 South Oliver Street, opened its doors back on March 30th.

Owners of the store, Dwight and Cecilia Swaim are new residents to Elbert County, and Cecilia says running a thrift store has been something she has always wanted to do.

“I’ve always loved thrift stores ever since I was little, and I enjoy going to thrift stores and I always just wanted to own one”, said Cecilia. “We really want to get into helping the community and do our part to help everybody.”

Her husband Dwight says that Elberton struck them as the perfect place to accomplish their goal.

“When my parents moved here we came up to see their new place, and we saw that Elberton didn’t really have a thrift store; we heard there was a Salvation Army of course, but they can only do so much as far as helping the community”, said Dwight. “We felt that was one thing we could our part in helping people out.”

“This and That” is open from 10:00am – 6:00pm on Mondays and Thursdays, from 10:00am until 5:00pm on Tuesdays and Fridays, and from 10:00am to 7:00pm on Saturdays.

They are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
