Positive news out of yesterday evening’s Elbert County Board of Commissioners regular meeting.
Elbert County Administrator Bob Thomas gave the commissioners an update in regards to the Old Rock Gym project.
According to Thomas, the contractor that was initially hired for the renovations is continuing to work this week on putting the finishing touches on the remaining work inside of the building.
Thomas says the building’s architect has given the contractor until the end of this week to finish everything up.
He says once the architect gives the green light, the county will assume control of the building.
“ So once he comes back and gives the final ok next week then officially The Rock Gym will be turned over to the county” says Thomas
In light of that news, Thomas advised the commission that now is a good time to consider a pricing and renting policy for the building.
County Attorney Bill Daughtry suggested using the Civic Center’s policy as a guide when coming up with the agreements for the Old Rock Gym.
No building policy or pricing structure was voted on during yesterday’s regular meeting.
