Phase One of the renovation project to the Elbert County Comprehensive High School is nearly complete, and the Elbert County Board of Education is already looking ahead to Phase Two.
According to School Superintendent Chuck Bell, Phase Two is going to consist of three projects.
Those projects include a renovation of the administration part of the building and entrance, a new multi-purpose room for the ECCHS band to be built adjacent to the JROTC building, and the construction of a new field house down near the school’s running track.
Bell says some things are going to have to be handled delicately, especially near the agriculture buildings.
“The land adjacent to the area that was recently discussed for purchase is where we are looking at a new agriculture barn and some upgrades for the program”, said Bell. “It is important we be detailed in coordinating this because this is taking place during the school year, which was not the case for Phase One, which took place during the summer.”
He says that Phase One came in right at budget, and that the school board intends on making sure that they do not go over budget with the renovations.
“I am pleased that we came in on budget for Phase One, and I have shared with others that being on budget is non-negotiable, and that we are not going to go over budget on this process”, said Bell.
Bids are scheduled to be advertised on September 12th in the local newspaper, and Bell says they expect work to be completed on Phase Two by August 1st, 2014.
