The search continues today for an Elbert County man wanted on a handful of felony charges.
The incident occurred in the morning hours of Thursday at a Brewers Bridge road address, where a witness reported that 48-year-old Marlin Roberts was displaying some erratic behavior.
According to Lt. Terry Reese with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office said Roberts was driving recklessly in the front yard of the residence, which resulted in him striking a phone pole and guide wire.
He said the incident concluded after Roberts crashed into a stone wall located on the property, at which point he fled on foot.
Reese says they located several items in the vehicle, and that led to felony warrants being issued for Robert’s arrest.
“Three weapons were located inside the vehicle and further investigations revealed that he is a convicted felon. A quantity of marijuana and scales were also discovered inside the vehicle. Several felony warrants have been issued for Roberts’ arrest”, said Reese.
According to Reese, Roberts’ has collected twenty-three previous felony convictions, not including the pending charges.
Roberts is currently wanted on three counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to distribute, and Possession of Drug Related Objects among other charges.
