EC Unemployment Drops Below Double Digits

Well some good news, and some bad news regarding the unemployment numbers in Elbert County.

When the unemployment data was last published in early September regarding the month of August’s numbers, Elbert County came in at a 10.5% unemployment rate.

The sequester and partial government shutdown affected the released of update information on a county by county basis, and released late last week were the numbers for Elbert County.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, September saw a decrease of over one percent in the unemployment rate down to 9.4%, but for the month of October, there was a slight increase back up to 9.9%.

An interesting note, this is the first time that Elbert County’s unemployment rate has been below double digit percentage points since November 2008; that stat is according to ycharts.com.
