At last night’s Elbert County Board of Education meeting Board Chairman Ben Baker asked the board for a motion to approve Interim Superintendent Chuck Bell as Superintendent for a 2 year 7 month period.
A motion to approve the decision was made to have a permanent superintendent in place for the start of the school year.
Former Interim Superintendent, now just Superintendent Chuck Bell expressed his excitement to be part of the changes being made in Elbert County.
“I’m extremely pleased to be able to move forward on this schedule, and this ensures that our students and staff have a permanent superintendent in place to start the school year”, said Bell. “I am not only happy for myself, but also happy for the school system.”
The motion to extend Bell’s contract was approved with a unanimous vote from the Elbert County Board of Education.
Bell was initially announced as Interim School Superintendent during a called meeting on June 27th, where he succeeded former Superintendent Rick Higginbotham, who officially retired on June 30th.
