Later this evening the 89th annual meeting of the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce will take place at the First Baptist Church’s ROC Building.
Chamber President Phyllis Brooks said it’s going to be a great evening for everyone in attendance.
“It’s just going to be real exciting, as we will do some of our traditional things. There will be four awards presented that evening, and some people are going to be surprised”, said Brooks. “We are just looking forward to a fun evening.”
As mentioned, numerous awards will be presented this evening, but Brooks points out one of the most anticipated yearly awards.
“The native citizen award is one people look forward to each year, because they don’t know who will be coming back to Elberton to receive that award. That’s one that is highly anticipated each year”, said Brooks.
Along with award presentations, dinner, and some special live entertainment; Brooks said it will also be the last night on the job for current Chamber Chairman Greg Gunter.
“Greg Gunter is my current chairman, and he will be making his final speech that night as he will be going out of office”, said Brooks. “We will then welcome Michael Rutherford as our incoming chair, and we are looking forward to working with Michael and all the things he will bring to the chamber.”
The 89th annual meeting begins with a reception at 6:00pm and the meeting itself following at 6:30pm.
