After pushing back their usual meeting date, the Elbert County Board of Commissioners will gather this evening for their regular monthly meeting for November.
On the agenda this evening is the big ticket item that has been on not only their agenda, but the Elbert County Board of Education’s and Elberton City Council’s as well, and that is the approval of an intergovernmental agreement to demolish the structure referred to as the Hawes Center off of Mill Street.
Elbert County Administrator Bob Thomas explains why the building has to come down.
“That building is in disrepair, its beginning to be a safety hazard as well as an eye sore in that community”, said Thomas.
Also taking place this evening will be a special recognition of the “Keep Elbert County Beautiful Program” as a certified chapter of the Keep America Beautiful National Program.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 5:30pm, and will be held in the board of commissioners meeting room located inside of the Elbert County Government Complex.
Members of the Elbert County community are encouraged to attend this evening.
