A bid has been approved for the Elbert County Library to receive an overhaul to its current HVAC system.
During Monday’s Elbert County Board of Commissioners meeting, the commissioners accepted a bid from Healthy Climate Inc., which is based out of Royston, Georgia. The cost of the job that was approved is $28,900.
The cost of the project will be split 50/50 between the county and the library; which comes out to $14,450 to be paid by each entity.
County Commissioner Frank Eaves felt that it’s more important to support local business if the price is comparable.
“I just think we need to look at local business being as tight as we can. Both of them had the same warranty, I would rather see us go with the local man if there is a small price difference, but that is just my opinion”, said Eaves.
The motion to accept the bid from Health Climate Incorporated passed with a four to one vote, with Commissioner Eaves voting against.
