Elbert County Man Dead after Weekend Four-Wheeler Accident

January 14, 2014

Saturday’s terrible weather may have had a role to play in a fatal accident that occurred Saturday night.

According to Elbert County Coroner and EMS Director Chuck Almond, the Elbert County 9-1-1 Center received a call about an overturned ATV 4-wheeler on Brown’s Bridge Road in the Bowman, GA area.

Upon arriving on scene, Almond said deputies with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and emergency personnel discovered that 34-year-old Michael Chris Charping of a Kings Hall Mill address had died as a result of the accident.

Almond said it appears that some ruts in the road may have been a cause of the incident.

“There were some areas of the road that had ruts in them from the weather, and it appears it could have caused to the four-wheeler to overturn, that he ran into one of the areas where the water had washed out a rut in the roadway”, explained Almond.

The investigation into the ATV wreck continues by the Washington Post of the Georgia State Patrol.
