Elbert County Man Facing Theft by Taking Charges

An Elbert County man is facing theft by taking charges after an incident that occurred this past Saturday.

Saturday morning deputies responded to a Flatwoods Road address in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a vacant home that had been burglarized in the past.

After arriving on scene deputies made contact with 48-year-old Spencer Smith of a Wahatchee Creek Road address in Elbert County.

Investigation led to deputies locating items that had been taken from the home on Smith and in his vehicle.

Smith was placed under arrest and charged with Theft by Taking, Criminal Trespassing, Driving While License Revoked, and Pedestrian Under the Influence.

Smith was transported to the Elbert County Detention Center, where he was later released on bond.
