Elbert County Man Indicted on 43 Counts of Poss. of Firearm by Convicted Felon

July 1, 2013

Yet another high profile case was presented on Friday to an Elbert County grand jury, which led to another indictment of an Elbert County man.

Friday morning, a grand jury indicted David Martin Benton on forty-three felony counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and three counts of Felony Theft by Receiving Property Stolen in Another State.

The charges stem from a search warrant that was executed by the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office earlier this year on April 9th, where upon searching two homes located off Gin Branch Road, Martin was charged with forty-two counts of Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon at that time.

As with the Dana Martin Grantham indictment, this case was also granted true bill status, which means this case will come before a judge in Elbert County Superior Court.

Again, no trial date has been set as of now, but there will be more details on this story as well, as they develop.
