The Elbert County School System is further progressing towards a new student information system.
For numerous years now, Elbert County has utilized the services of Powerschool, but the school system is now eyeing a transition to the Infinite Campus student information system.
Elbert County School Superintendent Chuck Bell said everything will stay the same for the remainder of this school year.
“We will finish this current school year with the existing student information system, and begin anew with 2014-2015”, said Bell. “The training however, will actually begin earlier.”
According to Chief Financial Officer Ben Childs, that training is very extensive, and will take roughly fifteen days to complete.
He explains how the training will be conducted.
“They’ll actually work with our data, but not our live data. So the teachers will be to get in their and use that process during that training period”, said Childs. “They’ll actually be here walking us through that training process.”
Currently the school system is in the process of sending a letter of intent to Infinite Campus to get started on making the switch.
Bell said sending a letter of intent did not require board action, but that he wanted to give the board an update on where the system stood before the end of 2013.
