Elbert Fails Second Week, WW Defeats LC

September 8, 2012

Your Elbert County Blue Devils fail to the Cedar Shoals Jaguars Friday, September 7 35-28. It was a disappointing ending for the Devils as the game started with Marquice Dye returning the opening kickoff for 6 and the Devils tacked on the point after, to make it 7-0. The two teams were going back and forth with little offense until Cedar Shoals scored off a 6 yard pass to tie the game towards the end of the first half. Elbert would kick off to Cedar Shoals who would return the kickoff but due to a penalty the play was called back. The third quarter would prove to be entertaining as both teams came out of the locker rooms with plenty of offense. After Elbert got their first offensive score of the season in the third, the teams went back and forth and ended the quarter with Elbert in the lead 28-21 due to Tyshon Dye returning the second kickoff of the night for a touchdown. Cedar Shoals would tie the game back up in the beginning of the fourth quarter. With 4:30 left in the game Cedar Shoals would drive down the field and score on a run from 1 yard out to take the lead. They tagged on the point after making the score 35-28 which would be  your final score in the Granite Bowl.

Washington Wilkes went into Lincoln County and blanked the Red Devils Friday night 21-0. With that win Washington Wilkes tie up the overall record with Lincoln County both teams have won 33 times.

Hart County lost to Blessed Trinity 24-10.
