Your Elbert County Blue Devils fail to rival Hart County on Friday October 26. It was a
low scoring affair and both teams had little offensive production in the 6-0 loss.
Elbert would receive the opening kick off but would be forced to punt and Elbert would force Hart into three plays and out. Elbert would get the ball on their own 26 yard line but a fumbled snap would lead to a turn over. Even after a huge 10 yard tackle for a loss the Bulldogs would still be in field goal range and would go up 3-0 with over 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter. The teams would exchange punts and Hart would attempt another field goal with 2 minutes left in the 1st but it was no good.
The second quarter would see little production from either team. With 5:30 left in the half Elbert would turn the ball back over to the Bulldogs off a muffed punt. The Devil Defense would hold and Brent Mills would come up with an interception and return the ball to the Hart County 41 yard line. After an unsuccessful trick play Elbert would kneel to take the game to half time down 3-0.
In the 3rd quarter Elbert would recover a fumble on their own 13 yard line. K’taro Cade would try hard to fill the void left in the offense by injuries as the Devils would get to the Hart 16 yard line. However, a turnover would give the ball back to the Bulldogs who put a 19 play drive together that would go into the 4th quarter and end in a 28 yard field goal with 10:34 left to play.
With under 8 minutes left to play the Blue Devils would see junior Dee Newman go down. Newman would have to be carted off the field. More details will be available later. Elbert would sniff out a fake field goal from the Bulldogs but would turn the ball back over off a fumble on the 50 yard line. With under 4 minutes left the Blue Devils would try passing with two different quarterbacks in two offensive series but would be unsuccessful.
