Elbert Memorial Hospital is one step closer to finalizing its affiliation agreement with the Anderson, South Carolina based AnMed Health System.
Elbert Memorial Chief Executive Officer Jim Yarborough said that the Georgia State Attorney General signed off on the affiliation last week.
“Last week we received approval from the Georgia’s Attorney General Office to move forward with the proposed five year affiliation with the AnMed Health System”, said Yarborough.
Assistant State Attorney General Julie Adams Jacobs said in her letter to the hospital that there wasn’t a need for approval from the state Attorney General since this is only an affiliation agreement and not a lease or sale of the hospital.
Yarborough said they are happy to be finally closing in on the final part of the affiliation agreement.
“We are pleased to be another important step closer to finalizing this partnership, and working more closely with AnMed Health staff”, stated Yarborough.
Before the AnMed/Elbert Memorial affiliation is finalized, it has to go before the Elbert Memorial Hospital Authority board for final approval at their next scheduled meeting.
That meeting will take place this coming Tuesday, February 26th at 5:15pm.
