The Elbert Memorial Hospital is looking to incorporate more medical services from AnMed Health.
One proposal is for AnMed to provide anesthesia services.
Elbert Memorial CEO Jim Yarborough said AnMed offered a very competitive proposal compared to what the hospital currently has in place, which is a flat monthly fee for services.
“They also give us the flexibility for only paying for the services that we use”, said Yarborough. “A good example for that is if our surgeon takes a vacation, we still have to pay for those days we are not using the service. Under the AnMed agreement we say we don’t need service on those days, and we don’t have to pay for days we don’t use the service.”
He said initial cost analysis reports showed that the hospital could save nearly thirty thousand dollars a year under a potential agreement from AnMed Health.
The Elbert Memorial Hospital Authority granted Yarborough the authority to negotiate the final terms with AnMed Health.
Once negotiated, those terms will have to be approved by the authority board before becoming official.
Also currently being negotiated between Elbert Memorial and AnMed Health is the possibility of restoring sleep lab services here in Elbert County.
Elbert Memorial has been without those services for a handful of months thus far.
Yarborough said that the services will be solely handled by AnMed.
“They will provide the sleep lab services, and they will bill and collect for those services”, he said. “We will basically have a landlord/tenant relationship as we will lease that space out to them.”
As with the anesthesia services agreement, the Elbert Memorial Hospital Authority granted Yarborough the authority to negotiate the final terms of the rental agreement.
